Exploring innovative solutions to global environmental challenges through data-driven research and sustainable practices.
Bijoy Mitra received his B.Sc. degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, in 2023. His education has laid the foundation for his extensive research into climate change and environmental resilience.
Bijoy has published multiple high-impact research articles, focusing on environmental challenges such as the socioeconomic impact of climate change-induced sea level rise, the spatial modeling of urban and oceanic airborne pollution, and the dynamics of forest-water canopies and marine algal blooms. Notably, he has developed predictive models that integrate deep learning techniques with remote sensing technologies, helping to forecast future greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with the IPCC’s shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs). His published work includes a comprehensive analysis of the flooded areas of the Indus Delta in Pakistan, a study on the air quality of the Red Sea region, and an investigation into chlorophyll-a concentrations in the Bay of Bengal. Bijoy has also contributed to research on circular economy models, aiming to decouple carbon emissions from economic growth, and has developed models predicting groundwater storage and its impact on local health. His work has been featured in prestigious journals like Journal of Cleaner production, Scientific Reports, Remote Sensing, Marine Pollution Bulletin, Sustainability, Atmospheric Environment: X, and Heliyon.
His academic journey has been complemented by collaborations with notable international institutions, including the Center for Environment and Marine Studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), where he continues to contribute as an International Collaborator. Currently, he continues to serve as a journal manuscript reviewer for reputable journals, including IEEE Access, Environment, Development, and Sustainability, Journal of Epidemiology and Global Health, Discover Atmosphere and Scientific Reports. He is actively involved in initiatives that guide policy interventions for climate resilience, demonstrating his commitment to addressing global environmental challenges and making significant contributions to sustainability efforts.
